1990's Hair and Makeup

1990's Hair

During the 1990's women's hairstyles were dominated by perming, people started to see a longer tousled effect was seen over the bobbed hairstyle, mousse was extremely popular to use, Hairstyles were skinny rather than big in the form of shoulder length straightened locks.

Scrunchies - Scrunchies in the hair were popularised by Carrie Bradshaw, hair was worn in a half up half down style which is still popular today, and also the half bun style.

Butterfly Clips - Butterfly clips were worn all over the head, and a long the twists or corn rows at the front of a hairstyle. Hair crystals were also worn in the front of the hair.

1990's Makeup

Makeup during the 1990's can be seen as a reaction to the bright and extravagant 1980's, women's looks would depend entirely on what sub culture they would belong to, for example grunge would have women wearing heavy smokey eyes made up from grey or brown eyeshadow with little to no blush and a light lip colour, this was seen on skinny models and formed a sort of 'heroine chic' look. Gothic fashions were also in style and women would pair wearing dark mascara and eyes with a pale whitened complexion. The most popular look of the 1990's was a fresh faced subtle makeup, where everything was applied sparingly, the eyes were still smokey but this was applied with lighter shades of makeup. There was a surge in using matte colours there was a makeup look called 'The Rachel' which was popularised by Jennifer Aniston where she had her signature mauve matte lips.

1990's Supermodels
Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Tyra Banks, Kate Moss.
The 'Big Six' was a group of six supermodels that dominated everything fashion, hair and makeup in the late 1980's to the 1990s, the first of them was Claudia Schiffer who bears a striking resembulence to Bridget Bardot, Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington.
